In Japan and China, shiitake has been known for centuries, also because it grows wild there and is valued in traditional Chinese medicine because of its ingredients. It is said to help with inflammations, headaches, dizziness and stomach problems. Even small amounts are said to help against high blood pressure and lower high cholesterol levels.
