Israeli Mezze & Co. at the 25h Hotel in Frankfurt.
As you might have noticed in our Insta story, we won an award from the German Foodblog's Contest. This is a mentor award from the company UNHOLD, who chose us out of hundreds of foodblogs.
Since the prize was awarded in Hamburg at the Ambiente Messe Frankfurt, we spent a night in Frankfurt and had a subsequent birthday dinner.
We decided - how could it be otherwise - for Israeli, namely for the "Chez IMA" in the 25h hotel near the main station.
Actually it was completely reserved for the evening, but when Feli and I feel like something, then we don't just give up. That's why we just drove by and were lucky enough to spontaneously get a place, challenged and were successful.
To drink we have decided for a cucumber mint water. But for those who fancy a cocktail, we offer a really fancy menu.
Mezze was served as a starter. Mezze are Israeli starters, like tapas or antipasti, only Israeli or oriental,
We chose Falafel with tahin sauce, a Fatoush salad with baked goat cheese and classic hummus. The main course was corn chicken and lamb.
The hummus and the salad were very tasty. Unfortunately they forgot to bring the goat cheese and the tahin sauce to the falafel was a bit too watery for us.
The salad consisted of baby spinach, tomatoes and toasted bread.
The chicken was soft as butter and delicious. But both of us were not completely convinced by the sauce. The lamb stiletto unfortunately didn't beat us up either. Unfortunately the broad beans didn't taste very good. But the meat was just as tender.
As side dish we decided on cauliflower and sweet potato chips. You can't do much wrong with the French fries, but the cauliflower reminded us more of grandma's cauliflower than of a roasted Israeli cauliflower as we know it from other Israeli restaurants.
For dessert, Feli has opted for a dark mousse with orange date salad. Unfortunately the orange date salad was missing and the mousse tasted more like Nesquik cream than dark chocolate. Nevertheless, it tasted good.
All in all, this is just our subjective perception of the restaurant visit. In a locality like this you can't please everyone and it wasn't bad at all. The waiters were friendly and the toilets mega fancy. Should we both visit the restaurant again, then we would just order Mezze. Especially the hummus and the salad were really delicious. The quality, the interior and the atmosphere were nice, which is why we would recommend the restaurant for your Frankfurt city trip. Maybe we just had a bad day.
But as I said, the Mezze were great ♡
